25th Kornati Cup: Anniversary
The 25th Kornati Cup, held from 25 to 30 April 2026, once again brought sailing enthusiasts from around the world to Croatia. With around 90 yachts, approximately 600 participants, and crews from 22 countries, this anniversary edition became a special gathering for competitive teams, experienced regatta sailors, and ambitious amateur crews.
The route led from Biograd na Moru to Sali, Piškera, Murter, and back to Biograd, offering everything that makes the Kornati Cup so unique: challenging sailing conditions, breathtaking natural scenery, and the unmistakable atmosphere of the Kornati Archipelago.
A Festive Opening in Biograd
Following registration, yacht check-in, and the first practice sessions over the weekend, the regatta week officially began in Biograd. Live music, a Mediterranean buffet, and many familiar faces created the perfect atmosphere for the opening of this special anniversary edition.
Light Winds Mark the Start of the Regatta Week
The opening race challenged the crews with light and constantly changing winds, demanding patience, precise sail trim, and tactical decision-making. On the course to Sali, success depended on accurately reading the shifting wind patterns.
In the evening, participants gathered on the waterfront, where refreshments were served before the traditional Gin & Tonic Party brought everyone together for a relaxed and enjoyable finish to the day.
Tactics and Currents on the Way to Piškera
The second stage from Sali to Piškera proved equally demanding. Light winds, strong currents at the windward mark, and tight manoeuvres required maximum concentration from every crew. As weather conditions prevented a second race, the fleet continued directly to Piškera.
The evening concluded with the Dufour Yachts Pelinkovac Party. Throughout the event, the Tec Race Service also supported the Dufour crews with practical advice on sail trim, yacht setup, and overall performance.
A Challenging Course Towards Murter
The third race day took the fleet from Piškera to Murter. Sailing through the Kornati Channel required smart tactical decisions and precise boat handling. Choosing the right side of the course and making the most of every wind shift proved decisive.
After the race, the crews gathered at Marina Hramina in Murter for the Nautic Alliance Dock Party, featuring a DJ and live saxophone music.
Bora Brings the Racing to an End
The final scheduled race day was dominated by strong Bora winds. With wind speeds exceeding 30 knots, the race committee decided not to start another race, placing the safety of both crews and yachts above all else.
